Bio:
I am a third year graduate student in the Teaching and Learning Ph.D. program. Before moving to UCSB, I taught English and coached football at a high school in northeastern Pennsylvania. While there, I found an interest in studying writing instruction and the development of student writing over time. That interest eventually brought me here, and since arriving at UCSB I've had the opportunity to look at writing instruction and development at many different ages and grade levels. In addition to my course work and my work with the GSAE, I am a writing instructor at Santa Barbara Business College and a teaching assistant with the communication department. I am also a writing peer with the graduate division, where I help students with their writing through one-on-one sessions, workshops, and GradPost articles. I have a BA in English and an MS in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University, along with an MA in Teaching and Learning from UCSB.

What I hope to accomplish as president:
In my previous two years as a graduate student, I've seen the GSAE do great work bringing students together, addressing issues, and building various kinds of support for students. I would like to continue that work by continuing our popular Caffeine Co-Op, organizing workshops around student needs, expanding our mentoring program, and finding ways to encourage discussion and writing groups across the program. I would also like to promote awareness of many of the resources available to our graduate students through GradDiv and other programs on campus, as well as find ways to fill the gaps that those resources don't address.
