These databases can be a good way to find funding opportunities such as fellowships and grants. Once you set up your COS account (see video), you can set e-mail alerts so that when a funding opportunity that matches your search criteria (i.e., education, technology, elementary school), you will receive an e-mail.
Finding a TA position is hard, but it is possible. Below is a list of departments that do not have graduate programs (and, therefore, need graduate TA's) or programs that need more graduate students. We recommend contacting the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA) for each of the departments that you would be comfortable being a TA for early in Fall. Share your interest in being a TA (or Reader) and include a copy of your CV. If a job position comes up, the GPA will have your information on file and may contact you. Also, some departments put out calls for TA positions in Spring that you should keep an eye out for (you will receive it through your education.ucsb.edu e-mail account).
Check out the Education Department's Financial Aid page and the Graduate Division's Financial Support page to learn more about the departmental and central campus fellowships offered at UCSB.
The UCSB Library has a great website for finding grants, tips for grant writing, and templates and examples of successful grants: Grants & Grant Writing.
